Classes

Inside the Session

At Rule One, we believe that training should never be random.

Every session is built around a clear purpose, combining evidence-informed Strength & Conditioning principles with expert coaching to help our members become stronger, fitter, more resilient and more confident.

Whether you’re an experienced athlete, returning to exercise or stepping into a structured training environment for the first time, our philosophy remains the same:

Every exercise has a purpose. Every repetition has intent. Every session moves you forward.

Our small-group personal training sessions follow a structured approach, allowing us to deliver the benefits of individualised coaching within a supportive, community-driven environment.

A Rule One small-group training session in progress

01

The Warm-Up

Prepare to Perform

Every Rule One session begins with a structured warm-up built around the RAMP protocol, a widely recognised framework used within Strength & Conditioning.

  • R — Raise

Gradually elevate heart rate, body temperature, circulation and breathing rate.

  • A — Activate

Engage the key muscle groups required for the movements ahead.

  • M — Mobilise

Develop usable movement range around the joints relevant to the session.

  • P — Potentiate

Progressively prepare the nervous system for the demands of the session.

A well-designed warm-up is more than five minutes on a treadmill — it prepares you physically and mentally for the training ahead.

02

Strength Training

Build Strength That Goes Beyond the Session

Strength is a foundation of everything we do. Our programming is built around fundamental movement patterns — squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, lunging, carrying and rotation.

  • 1–5 reps | Maximal Strength

Heavier resistance to develop the ability to produce high levels of force.

  • 6–8 reps | Strength & Muscle

Challenging loads with enough volume to build strength and development.

  • 8–12 reps | Hypertrophy

Moderate ranges that support muscular development and lean muscle.

  • 12–20+ reps | Endurance

Lighter resistance to improve muscular stamina and work capacity.

It's not just about the reps — intensity, volume, exercise selection, rest, tempo and experience all shape the plan.

03

Conditioning

Build Your Engine

Strength is only one part of physical performance. Our conditioning sessions improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and the ability to recover from repeated efforts.

  • Aerobic Development

Sustained, appropriately paced efforts that build stamina and work capacity.

  • Anaerobic Conditioning

Higher-intensity intervals that develop repeated-effort performance.

  • Mixed-Modal Conditioning

Strength, movement and cardiovascular demand within structured circuits.

  • Intensity with Intent

Intensity, duration and work-to-rest ratios are chosen for a purpose.

We don't measure a successful session by how exhausted you feel, but by the quality of the work and the progress it creates.

04

The Cool-Down

Recover. Reset. Rebuild.

The final stage of our sessions focuses on transitioning from exercise towards recovery, shaped around the demands of the work you have just done.

  • Static Stretching

Controlled, sustained stretches to develop flexibility and ease tightness.

  • Self-Myofascial Release

Foam rollers and massage guns, used as optional recovery tools.

  • Breathing & Downshifting

Gentle movement to gradually reduce intensity and finish relaxed.

  • Beyond the Session

Sleep, nutrition, hydration and sensible recovery between hard sessions.

Recovery is not an afterthought. It's an important part of achieving sustainable, long-term progress.

Our Coaching Philosophy

One Structure. Individual Progression.

No two members are the same. Our small-group model combines structured programming with individual adaptations, so one member can be building movement competency while another chases a performance goal.

  • Educate, Guide, Challenge, Support

Coaches with you throughout the process, not just the session.

  • Train with Purpose

Same session objective, with resistance and complexity suited to you.

  • Move with Intent

Movement quality first, so strength transfers into everyday life.

  • Progress with Confidence

Structured phases that build capability over the long term.

Rule One. No Limits. More than a workout — a structured approach to becoming stronger, fitter and more capable, for life.
